PHRASAL VERB: to break down

A couple weeks ago I was driving on the highway, and my car broke down. I had to call a mechanic right away and pay lots of money to get it fixed.

Algumas semanas atrás, eu estava dirigindo na estrada e meu carro quebrou. Tive que chamar um mecânico imediatamente e pagar muito dinheiro para consertá-lo.

I’m always afraid that my SUV will break down when I am heading for an important appointment. So far that hasn’t happened to me!

Sempre tenho medo de que meu SUV quebre quando estou indo para um compromisso importante. Até agora isso não aconteceu comigo!
