SIGHT & SEEING (GLARE, GAZE, STARE, GLANCE, PEER)

1) TO GLARE: to look hard and unpleasantly or angrily

She didn´t shout; she just glared at me.

Ela não gritou ela apenas olhou feio/furiosamente para mim.

2) TO GAZE: to look steadily, often feeling thoughtful

Sarah didn't move; she just gazed at the child trying to open up the nut.

Sarah não se moveu, ela somente observou a criança tentando abrir a castanha.

3) TO STARE: to look steadily for a long time

They stared at me, because they were afraid to say anything.

Eles me olharam fixamente/encararam porque eles estavam com medo de dizer qualquer coisa.

4) TO GLANCE: to look quickly

I only glanced at him for a second.

Eu só olhei de relance para ele por um segundo.

5) TO PEER: to look curiously into

If you peer into the cave, you can just about see the bear.

Se você espiar/olhar atentamente dentro da caverna você pode perfeitamente ver o urso.
